The Head of the Association, Ms. Irine Goguadze, participated at the conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities held 1-3 September 2010 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

MAGAZINE

In the framework of the project "Prevention of family violence in Guria and Adjara high mountain regions" the association was publishing the magazine "kalis surneli" (engl. "scenes of a woman"). The main articles of the magazine were dedicated to the problems in the regions such as home violence, gender balance, the rights of the woman and children etc.

OUR PROJECTS

 "It is Possible to Defeat Cancer"

Prevention of Breast Cancer and  Pre-cancer; education of women (Ozurgeti District, Georgia). Approximately 4000 women were tested and trained for pre breast cancer. Were handed by informational brochures and received relevant medical education.

‘‘Iodine Deficiency Problem- the Problem of the Nation's Future‘‘

Prevention of Iodine Deficiency Diseases (Ozurgeti District, Georgia). Approximately 6000 persons were trained for iodine deficiency diseases prevention. Informational brochures handed them.  Information program was transmitted on T.V.

‘‘For Saving Each Other’s Life‘‘ 

Development of urgent service for saving each others life (Guria Region, Georgia).The regional hospital entrance and reanimation department was repaired. The modern stile reanimobile was bought for the region. Educational Newspaper "Healthy Guria" was published quarterly,  (circulation number 1000) and other brochures. 

"The Community Medical Education- The Guarantee for the Healthy Future of the Nation" 

The project was implemented  in Guria-Adjara region . 129 local trainers (teachers, nurses, community representatives) were re-trained in 43 communities; the trainings were carried out, 100000 triflets of 15kinds and 2000 posters of 8 kinds  were spread. 

‘‘Social House- First Step‘‘

Establishment of psycho-social rehabilitation centre, education of population and fighting against stigma (Ozurgeti District, Georgia). The social house was founded with art therapy and argo-therapy groups for 60 users.

"Green House" 

Building a Green house for mentally disabled people for users labour rehabilitation and maintaining the social house (Ozurgeti District, Georgia).Users got labour skills by growing vegetables for their own use, that helped in their psycho-emotional rehabilitation.

"The Rights of People with Mental Health Problems Are Human Rights"

A three-day action was held -media-campaign 2004, dedicated to the World Mental Health Day - Talk Show in the Regional TV, TV program transmitted by I channel of Georgia, exhibition of mentally disabled people's  handicraft, concert  in Ozurgeti State Theatre, street action by students for supporting rightas of articles in newspapers.
Street action by students supporting rights of mentally disabled people and protesting their discrimination, published articles in central and local newspapers ("24 Hours", Guria News).

"Social House-Today and Tomorrow" 

Maintenance of psycho-social house for 60 users. 

"Prevention of family violence in Guria and Adjara high  mountain regions" 

Two women clubs have been established in Shuakhevi and Ozurgeti; staff has been trained in medical centers; there have been distributed 4 types of treaplet, posters and 10 issue of magazine with 36 pages about “Scent of a Woman”; info-materials distributed about victims of family violence to the population; societal opinion have been mobilized; in 25 communities anonymous boxes have been set up.

The Organization has begun its activities since 1998 as an initiative group. On May 10, 1999 it was founded as a NGO. The Organization started implementing its first project in October 1999.

MISSION

The mission of the organization is protection of woman and mentally health disorder people’s health and rights’.

- Organization aims at revealing, studying and solution of the women’s health problems, promoting their rights, propaganda of healthy life, promotion of raising of medical culture and health education of population, research and preventing of reasons of diseases spread over Guria region.

- Support of socially vulnerable population, protection of their interests and raising of life level; Solution of problems of educational and health systems; environmental protection and provision of ecological security; raising of civic awareness.

- Provision of population with medical assistance; introducing population with their rights to get medical assistance (on the background of currently implementing reform of health care system);

- Raising of health educational level of population.

- The organization provides the development of community-based psycho-social services in Guria, protection of the interests and rights of the people with mental disorders, promotion of their integration into society.
